Tilt is a mental state that poker players can enter when they are in an altered state. It is a state of mind that causes players to be angry or frustrated while playing poker.

Poker players can make poor decisions under stress and play poorly. Regular poker players can suffer from severe mental, emotional, and financial consequences.

To avoid tilt, the first step is to learn to recognize your emotional and behavioral cues. Are you feeling hot or flustered when you have dealt with bad hands? Are you prone to making quick decisions without properly assessing your opponents?

The following strategies can help you avoid tilting in poker once you have mastered the cues

Take a break

You can quit the game and wait for a more balanced mental state.

Accept and understand variance

To gain a better view, you should focus on your performance throughout the game.

Do not be result-oriented

Your most recent session doesn’t necessarily define your poker performance.
